The first settlement in Okurcalar, which is a neighborhood in Alanya district of Antalya province, dates back to 3000 BC. It is known that the neighborhood, which is on an ideal location for seafaring communities in terms of settlement, was used as a caravan route by the Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans. In addition to the natural beauties it has, Alara River located between Alanya – Manavgat is one of the places to be seen. Alara river which is 62 kilometers long starts from Central Taurus and flows into the Mediterranean Sea. Karaburun comes to the forefront among the most beautiful places for swimming. Alanya is located 31 kilometers of Okurcalar and if you want to visit the historical places, the Red Tower located in Alanya is one of the historical places close to Okurcalar. The tower built in the period of Alaeddin Keyqubad I in 1226 has an octagonal architecture and is 33 meters high.
Citrus fruits are produced in Okurcalar and banana is the most produced product. Okurcalar is under the influence of the Mediterranean climate and since the summer season starts earlier and ends later compared to the other regions, tourism doesn’t lose its aliveness. The summers are hot and arid while winters are temperate. The distance to the Antalya Airport is 103 kilometers. The distance to the Alanya Gazipaşa Airport is 30 kilometers. Transportation to the neighborhood from this point is provided by minibus or bus.
