Whichever mean of transportation you choose, the journey from Cuzco to the airport would last short. Renting a car and taking a local minibus might be an alternative to taxis, which are most preferred.
If you are going to take a taxi to go to the airport, you should consult the taxi stands at your hotel or city center instead of taking a taxi just on the street. This choice will result in a safer journey, which would last 10 minutes in total.
Even though the minibuses that you can take from the city center do not directly go to the airport, you can reach the station which is very close to the airport with these minibuses. You can reach the airport in maximum 20 minutes with these.
Those who want to rent a car may consult can rental companies like Enterprise, Atix, Manu and Master, which have offices in the city.
Velasco Astete Airport, Cuzco's only airport open for flights, offers a large number of different services, although it is not very large. The only terminal building of the airport is two-storey, but there are different shops on each floor. On the first floor of the terminal there is an exchange office where you can exchange Euro, Sterling and Dollar and the ATMs of the biggest banks in Peru. Another spot on this floor is called Snack Bar. Here you can taste different drinks as well as snacks. You can also take advantage of the comfortable seats, free wireless internet and food and beverage service at Club Lounge, which has an entrance fee.
On the second floor of the terminal there is a cafeteria called Cafeteria Aeropuerto which is spread over a very wide area. Here you can taste a wide range of snacks and hot food. You can spend time at the internet café where you can use computers and internet service, or at the book store where many books in different languages are available. This floor also hosts Galeria Latina, The Peruvan and Kuna stores where you can shop.
Pittsburgh Airport offers different alternatives to its passengers to get to the city center. Shuttle services, car and luxury limousine rental services are also available. The passengers mostly prefer bus and taxi because they offer low cost travel. Considering that Pittsburgh is a big city and the public transport vehicles go in different directions, you can prefer to take a taxi in order not to get lost. The three different companies named as Checker, Cranberry and Yellow provide taxi service at the airport and you can take the advantage of a comfortable and fast travel for 24 hours.
The buses pick up passengers at the stops located in front of the sixth entrance gate of the terminal building at Pittsburgh Airport. The West Busway company starts its service at 5:30 o’clock in the morning and its buses departs every 30 minutes until 12 o’clock in the night. You can pay for wheelchair-friendly vehicles for the disabled individuals with cash, credit card or pre-paid tickets.
For groups and family travels, the best alternative is the shuttle service. If you want to plan an economical and comfortable journey, you can rent a transfer vehicle with a driver from the SuperShuttle Pittsburgh Company at the airport.
If you want to rent a car, you may prefer one of the 8 different car rental companies (Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless) that are located on the lower floor of the parking garage at the airport. We recommend you to walk around a few companies and get information to find out different alternatives and price options.
Limousine rental companies promise exclusive luxury and comfort for their customers. If you prefer this option, which is more expensive but flashy than other alternatives to reach the city center, you can contact Limousine, Tortoice or All Star, the three companies at the airport.
