Transportation to Airport from Hiroshima City Center

Hiroshima Airport

Hiroshima, which means “broad island” in Japanese, is the first city which put its stamp on world history because of the nuclear attack it suffered. The city is the largest city in Chūgoku region and is located 56 kilometers of Hiroshima Airport. It is possible to reach the airport from the city center by using a bus, taxi or renting a car.

Limousine buses operating every day follow two different routes whose destinations are the same. One of these routes follows the north of the city while the other follows the central route. On the both routes, you will be fascinated by many historical places and the famous Peace Memorial Park offering a visual feat with more than 300 cherry trees. The buses depart when they are full and there is no standing passenger in the buses.

The cost of travelling to the airport by a limousine bus is around 1.340 Japanese Yen. You can buy your ticket from the terminal in the city center for your all urban transportations. The travel between the airport and departure point of the buses takes about 53 minutes but you can take off early because the traffic may sometimes be heavy.

Even though there is not a railway network connecting the city center to the airport, you can take the train from the city and arrive at the JR Shiraichi station in 50 minutes. This station is very close to the airport. The ticket price of the buses called Geiyo, which carries passengers to the airport from the station, is 390 Japanese Yen and these buses reach the airport in about 15 minutes. When you follow this route, you are not affected by the traffic jam of the Sanyo Expressway which is the busiest road to the airport.

In order to get on the train, you need to use “Rail Pass” and “JR-west Rail Pass” which are not valid on buses. You can buy these cards while getting on the train. The amount you haven't used can be refunded if you deliver the card at the airport.

Taxi

Although there are many taxi stands in the city, you can easily find a taxi while you are on the roadside. If the light of the taxi sign is on, it means that the taxi is available. The left doors of the taxis are opened automatically. After telling the driver where you will go, you can follow the fare that you will pay from the taximeter. Travelling to the airport from Hiroshima city center costs about 13000-17000 Japanese Yen, which equals to 15-200 USD. An additional amount is demanded for night transfers.
