Aachen is a small town in Germany on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. Aachen, the most important border city of North Rhine-Westphalia, is also known for its universities. About 40,000 people of its 250,000 inhabitants are students. Its cafes are usually crowded with young and educated people. If you go in December, the Christmas markets may be visited together with the majestic Theater Building. Aachen is also famous for its hot springs inherited from the Roman period. The city is also famous for its hot waters.

 

In Aachen the slightly warming impact of Oceanic climate can be seen. However in winter the days get dark quickly. Therefore it will be better to visit in the summer and spring months. However, it also a very rainy city, with precipitation occuring over 200 days of the year. Because it is not a very big city, you can still discover many places by walking.
