Armenia is the capital of Colombia's Quindio region and is located 290 kilometers from Bogota. Armenia is one of the three major cities in Colombia and is the country's second largest city. The city is about 1500 meters above sea level. It has the municipalities of Circasia and Salento in the north, Montenegro in the west, Calarca in the east and the municipality of La Tabeida in the south.
