About Blankenberge

Being located on the northwest of Belgium, Blankenberge is a favourite holiday destination for especially Belgium and its neighbouring countries. As a coastal city, Blankenberge has wide beaches. Buses are used for urban transport in this city. Also, you can see the whole city centre on foot. Renting a bike is also a very popular alternative of transportation in Blankenberge. In this city, it is humid and rainy all year round. The average temperature in summer is about 20°C, whereas it is around 5°C during winter.

Belle Epoque Center is a highly recommended place to get to know the Belgian history, life and culture. For the ones interested in the reptiles, and especially the ones travelling with their kids should defitinitely see Serpentarium. Moreover, you should not miss the sand sculptures exhibitions even if they are located out of the city centre. Established in the 11th century, St. Amandus Church is one of the most important historical heritages of the city. The symbol of the city is Belgium Pier, a 350-metre-long wooden pier with its 360-degree-terrace at its end. Saint-Rochus Church is also one of the spots that is worth seeing with its around 2000-person capacity.

Zeedijk Street along the coastline is ideal for both taking a walk and enjoying a meal in company with a nice view. You can go to Kerkstraat and  Bakkerssraat Streets for shopping. Besides, surfing is quite popular in Blankenberge. You can find each type of equipment, get trained and join the surf camps here. One of the best times to visit this city is during Flower Parade (Bloemencorso), a festival organized in every last Sunday of August.

The tourists are highly recommended to buy the famous Belgian chocolate and try local beers in this city.
