About Gumuldur

The history of Gümüldür located in the district of Menderes which is 50 km of İzmir dates back to the Hellenistic period. The first settlement in the region is the Lebedos ancient city founded by the Carians. It is known that the Kağızman Turks came to the region in the 16th century and lived together with the Greeks together until the population exchange.

The sea of the town which has an 8-km long coastline is cold and deepens suddenly. The coastal part where there is always wind is convenient for diving and in the summer months the population considerably increases thanks to the tourists. Gümüldür is famous for its satsuma mandarins as well as being an important and attractive place for tourism. While eighty percent of the mandarins in our country are grown here, it is also said that the Gümüldür mandarins are the world's tastiest mandarins. In Gümüldür, which takes attention with orange mandarin trees in October and November months, people make their living from mandarin agriculture and animal husbandry.

The historical places to be visited in the town; Claros, the only Ionian city that is not by the sea, and Colophon, one of the oldest cities of Anatolia dating back to 8th and 7th centuries BC. Forest Camp located in the region is one of the wonderful accommodation centers where you can go swimming or pitch a tent.

Gümüldür is 35 kilometers of İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport and there are regular bus services between two points.
