About Gyenesdias

Located in the Western Balaton region on the border with Hungary, Gyenesdias is a holiday village attracting a great many tourists. You should definitely see NagymezÅ‘ (the Great Field) in Gyenesdias, having a wide variety of alternatives for nature lovers. You can climb to the Festetics Observation Tower in the Forest Sports area, have a picnic in Keszthely hills, or enjoy the walking trails around Lake Balaton. You can visit the Vadlánlik Cave on a hill covered with 70-year old Australian pine trees. You can also join the hiking tours organized in Mt. Kerek and the Devil's Rocks in the west of the Kümell Hills.

You can visit the Saint Helen's Church, which has survived from the 1800s, and learn the story of this impressive building. The Blessed Virgin's Church of Diás, designed by an architect from Budapest in 1894, is a building of the Renaissance style. You can also have a look at the statues and icons inside as well as the church's appearance. Wine tasting could be enjoyed in the wine cellar of the 17th-century Darnays, which also has a museum. The Avar History Museum in the Herdsman House, built in the 19th century and belongs to the municipality today, exhibits the archaeological remains related to the local history of Gyenesdias.
