Kartepe, which is one of the 12 districts of Kocaeli (İzmit), is located in the west of Sapanca. The distance between Kocaeli city center and Kartepe is 25 kilometers. The district is about 115 kilometers of İstanbul. For this reason, it also attracts many visitors from İstanbul thanks to its nature providing a great environment for skiing especially during the winter months. In addition to being a famous district for winter tourism, it also has a ski center with a wonderful sea view. The closest airport to Kartepe is Sabiha Gökçen located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. The 90-km long distance between the district and the airport can be provided by airline transfers, buses and taxis.
