About Markham

Located in the south of Toronto Ontario, Markham is also a part of the region called “the Greater Toronto Area”. Being a municipality surrounded by the hills in the bank of Don and Rouge Rivers, Markham is an active cultural and entertainment centre. When the city had a population of ethnic diversity and was a small village, it started to develop and had a modern infrastructure as from 1840. Most of the old buildings date from this era and are centred especially on Main Street Unionville, an heritage street.
