About Mugla

Muğla, which is located on the coast of Aegean Sea, in the west of Turkey, is one of the popular tourist destinations of the summer months. The province has many important destinations such as Datça, Dalaman, Marmaris and Bodrum. It is not exactly known when the first settlement began in Muğla which is one of the oldest settlement of Anatolia. In Muğla, which is home to many ancient towns inheriting from the ancient Greek and Roman periods, the summer months are accepted as the busiest periods of the province in terms of tourism. The city, which was dominated by the Carians, Persians and Medes in the ancient periods, is today surrounded by Antalya, Denizli, Burdur, Aydın and Aegean Sea.

Transportation to the region is generally provided from Dalaman and Bodrum airports. Güllük, Bodrum and Marmaris ports have an important place in the transportation network of the region for the ships coming by sea.

The economy of Muğla is predominantly based on tourism and agricultural products such as citrus fruits and olives. Bodrum, which is famous for its white-painted houses, Marmaris and Fethiye, which fascinate the visitors with their deep blue bays, are some of the spectacular places in Muğla. Apart from the popular holiday destinations in the city, small villages and towns known for their calmer lives are the choices of the travelers who want to spend their holidays in a peaceful atmosphere of the Aegean.

Flower and honeydew honey production is developed thanks to the rich plantation cover of Muğla which has the longest shoreline of Turkey with its coasts exceeding 1000 kilometers in total. Muğla is one of the leading cities of the region in terms of citrus production such as lemon, grapefruit, orange and mandarin. Olive and sweetgum oil have an important share among the other natural riches contributing to the development of the city economically.

You can use Bodrum Airport or Dalaman Airport depending on your destination in Muğla.
