About Mykolayiv

Mykolayiv, or Nikolaev, is located in a peninsula surrounded by the Inhul and Southern Bug rivers in the south of Ukraine. The city, where the Battleship Potemkin, a famous ship in the Soviet period, the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, the apple of the Russian Navy’s eye and the spaceship Korolev were built, was opened to visit in 1991. Beside being one of the biggest centers of Ukraine for ship construction and aircraft repair, Mykolayiv was also named as ‘the City of Brides’ 200 years ago. The general brought the most beautiful girls of the country to the city for the workers to select a wife for themselves. Thus, Mykolayiv turned into a city where the seamen lived with their families, and it still has the most beautiful girls of the country in the beauty contests of Ukraine today. Many agencies from Europe and Turkey organizes marriage tours to the city.
