About Naas

The Irish city Naas, which has a colorful and rich history, is one of the suburbs of Dublin only at a distance of 30 minutes. Gaining a place in history in 1409 as the seat of the Kings in the province of Leinster, the city is one of the strategical spots that also had significance in the Middle Age. It still bears the village atmosphere from the past in spite of its modern structure and technological industrial facilities today. The city is located on the Grand Canal (pink route) and the mixture of history and nature impresses visitors.

The Municipality Building built in 1792 as a prison, the Old Parish Church rebuilt in 1620, and the Courthouse built in Neo-Classic pattern in 1807 are among the artifacts which take you to past in Naas. Russborough House, one of the most gorgeous houses of Ireland, is a place to visit during a city tour. Kilteel Castle, a national monument, which was built for the knights of Jerusalem in the 13th century, is only 8 kilometers far from Naas.

Naas is full of modern cafes and shops but it is also a city far from the metropolitan chaos. A resting area for people who work in Dublin located at a distance of 35 kilometers, this quiet city is appropriate for letting off steam with activities such as horse-riding and golf in County Kildare. Naas, where the most wonderful horses of the world are raised and international races are held, is also known as the horse country of Ireland. If you like car races, you should know that the single international motorcycle and car race track of Ireland is in Naas, too. Irish rally championships are held here. Blessington Lakes are the biggest constructed wetland of the country and they lie on the northwestern foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. Its view combined with mountains forms one of the most beautiful portraits of the city.

During your trips to Naas by air, the closest airport where you can land on is in Dublin. You can reach the city center of Naas by taking a taxi or airport shuttle or renting a car at the airport, which is 43 kilometers far from the city center.
