About New Orleans

One of the most historical and touristic cities in the United States, with its own distinct, unique regional culture, New Orleans is located on the shores of the Mississippi River in the state of Louisiana. The city is famous for its historical architecture, unique culture and cuisine and for being one of the birthpalces of jazz music. In the city center you can visit the historical French Quarter, New Orleans Art Museum, Salvation Botanical Gardens, Historical Cemeteries, St. Louis Cathedral, the Mississippi River and many other historical attractions.

The locals of the city are very passionate about their culture and jazz music in particular. In fact, New Orleans is a city where you can encounter live music all the time, in bars, cafes and out on the street. Jazz gives a particularly enjoyable character to the city's nightlife as well. The bars and nightclubs of the city are open all-night, nearly every day. You can also sample the regional Creole cuisine with unique dishes at many restauraunts around the area, as well as French, Chinese and Italian food as well.

French Quarter, the city's most historical district, is not only filled with interesting bars and cafes but also shopping opportunities as well. There are a variety of boutiques and shops where you can find interesting antiques and souvenirs. The festival of Mardi Gras, which is organized usually during Februrary, is also a major attraction and should not be missed, as well as the New Orleans Jazz Festival in April.

Intercity public transportation is extensive and operates on a system of buses and trolleys. Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport provides flights, mainly to other U.S cities.
