Olympos, which was established in 300 BC on the banks of the Olympos River, is an ancient city located in Kumluca district of Antalya. For many years, Lycians ruled the city and Olympos was one of the most magnificent cities of this civilization. Romans used this region as a trade port and after the 11th century, this city was reigned by Genoese, Venetians and the Knights of Saint John. Having a strategical importance for the security of the Mediterranean, the region was started to be controlled by Ottomans after the 15th century. Olympos Archeological Site, where the historical ruins from the Roman period are located, unearths the history of the city. In the archeological site, there are necropolis church, eparchy palace, theatre, bridge, bath, basilica and mausoleums from Roman period. Being one of the most beautiful beaches of Antalya, Olympos Beach welcomes domestic and foreign tourists in summer months and it is also a protected area - loggerheads use this area to give birth to their babies. Olympos Cable Car that provides transportation to Tahtalı Mountain, the highest point of Beydağları National Park, is one of the longest cable cars in the world. During this long cable car trip, tourists and visitors can see the magnificent view of the nature and enjoy great restaurants at the top as well as paragliding.
