About Radovljica

The town Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region in the north of Slovenia is considered the administrative center of the Municipality of Radovljica. Located on the southern slope of the Karawanks mountain range, the town Radovljica is about 6 kilometers away from Lake Bled, a branch of the Sava River. Also known as Radol'ca, Radovljica is a cute town surrounded by historical buildings, offering unique and scenic views of the Alps during four seasons, having an extraordinary atmosphere with stone city walls and original architectural works at every step.

Radovljica is one of the most visited places in Slovenia with one-day trips; you can even go to Lake Bled, which is a renowned lake all over the world, and spend a few days around the lake. The Apiculture Museum, shedding light on the history of beekeeping in Slovenia, is located in a historic building bearing the traces of baroque architecture in the historical city center. You can see the lifestyles and works of local beekeepers, traditional beehives and beekeeping tools in the museum, where you will discover Slovenia's rich apiculture tradition and how important the apiculture was in Slovenia in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Gingerbread Museum, another interesting attraction in the town, is housed in a historic building in the city center. This museum, where you will see everything that can be made with ginger, will undoubtedly be one of the unforgettable memories of your Radovljica tour. Linhartov Trg is the main square of Radovljica, which is active all day long, and it is a historical area  where the houses from the 16th and 17th centuries are located next to each other. It is also home to the Thurn Manor Palace, one of the most impressive examples of baroque architecture, as well as Koman House and Vidič House. If you go south of the square, you can also explore the hiking trails on the Lipnica Valley, offering fantastic views.

Šivec House, which is one of the most spectacular houses on the Linhartov Trg Square and has a history dating back to the 16th century, attracts attention with its extraordinary structure having Renaissance traces on its facade walls and gothic architectural details on the interior walls.  The ground floor of the house has a gallery with exhibitions renewed throughout the year. "Black Kitchen", drawing room and three more rooms are on the first floor. On the second floor is there a comprehensive collection of chidren's books written by the most well-known Slovenian authors.
