One of the most important historical monuments of the city is the castle which was built in 540 after the Christ. Reggio di Calabria Airport, 7 kilometers south of the city, offers direct flights from Rome, Torino and Milan. Access to the airport is by trains and buses, as well as by ferried from Messina.
