Tangalle (also known as Tangalla) is one of the big towns in Hambantota in southern Sri Lanka. It is a gate opening to the widest beaches. If you dare to go all the way to find a perfect beach, you are at the right spot.
Mulkirigala Rock Temple was placed on a rock around 200 meter high. According to the antique scripts engraved on the rock, Buddhist temple has a 2000-year history. With its ancient mural paintings, a leaning Buddha statue, and several cave temples located at different levels, it is a must-see place. In one of those caves, palm-leaf (ola) manuscripts were found.
Bundala National Park is a place prepared for the migratory birds in Sri Lanka, so that they could spend the winter there. In Bundala, which hosts 197 different type of birds, it is possible to see big flamingos. You can take a guided-tour with a canoe in the tranquil atmosphere of Tangalle Lagoon. Also, you can meet the waves in Goyambokka Beach, which is called as the most beautiful beach of Sri Lanka.
Tangalle has a tropical climate, which has mostly rain during summer. Therefore, the ideal time to visit Tangalle is the period between November and March.
