Trenčín is the center of the Považie Region, situated very close to the Czech Republic, in western Slovakia. Váh River being 403 kilometers, is the longest river in Slovakia and the city is built in the Váh River valley.

In Trenčín, the weather is cold in winters and warm in summers, as the city is surrounded by mountains. The city has a rich history, and with many historical artifacts, cultural events, and different activities it is worth exploring. The mountain range Považský Inovec is a perfect option for nature-lover trekkers. The mineral springs of the White Carpathians are very close to the city and in this area, you can go fishing or take boat tours, besides water sports such as canoeing and swimming.

Trenčín is one of the most famous historical cities in Slovakia with castles. Beckov Castle is a majestic castle built in the 13th century, located southwest of Trenčín on the top of a rock overlooking the plains from aloft. Čachtice Castle is famous for its chilling story, in the 17th century, almost 600 young women were killed over twenty years in this castle by Countess Elizabeth Báthory. Under the castle, classical music concerts and exhibitions are held, and one of the most beautiful city landmarks, the Roman Catholic Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary is located here. The church was built in 1324 and can be accessed by the Parish Stairways which were built in 1568. One of the city symbols is Peace Square which has a monument that was built for those who died in the plague in 1713 and Trenčín Museum is located in this square. Trenčín is a lively city with its historical streets, small and beautiful cafes, fashion trade shows, and music festivals, but if you want to experience the traditional part of the city, you should visit Selec Village on the slopes of the Inovec mountains.

Trenčín's history begins as a military colony of the Roman Empire and nowadays is one of the wealthiest cities in the country, as Slovakia is known for its high living standards and prosperity. After the 11th century, it was notable for being the residency of the king of Hungary. 

The nearest airport to Trenčín is the Bratislava Airport which is 87 kilometers from the city. From Bratislava Airport to Trenčín it takes approximately two hours with transportation options such as taxi, bus, or car rental services.
