About Vac

Vác, which is a small and charming Hungarian city, is located in the north of the country, in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. The city is located in the region where the Danube River curves southward with a sharp turn and offers a magical atmosphere with its magnificent river views and silhouette that looks like a Baroque portrait. The city's squares that bear medieval traces are very rich in terms of small cafes that smell of coffee and restaurants where you can try delicious tastes. When you walk along the river road surrounded by chestnut trees, you can breathe the peace given by the parks decorated with colorful flowers and if you wish, you can do exercise in this beautiful nature. 

The city has many places to see such as the Triumphal Arch, the Cathedral of Virgin Mary hidden amongst the old merchant houses in the historical center, churches and bridges remaining from the 18th century. The city is also full of art. The city, where you will come across many museums and exhibitions on its streets, is also known as the cultural city of Hungary as well as its wonderful panorama. Many visitors from all over Hungary are coming to the city which witnesses in its most active period in July when entertaining festivals are held.

You can tour the city on foot without using any vehicle. The city fascinates its visitors with its wonderful view especially from a ferry on the river. The city, which is the summer town of Budapest, is also called 'The Capital of the Danube Bend' since it is close to many tourist destinations. The city, which is also popular with canoe and rowing sports, has bicycle paths extending to Budapest.

From the historical railway station in the city, there are regular train services to many places in Hungary, and the closest area to reach by air is Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport which is 64 kilometers away. You can travel from the airport to the city center by using a train, bus or taxi.
