About Vilnius

Vilnius is Lithuania's capital and its largest city. Built in various periods, home to up to 500 historical artifacts, Vilnius is on the World Heritage Sites list. Built on flat grounds, it is possible to travel the city by bike. The most important place you must visit in the city of Vilnius is the Vilnius Cathedral Square. With St. Stanislav and St. Vladislav Cathedrals, it is the most important center of the city. After this, Gediminas' Tower is seen as the city landmark and it is possible to get a panoramic view of the city from the observation deck. One of the most crowded streets, Stikliu Street, is an area where both locals and tourists flood. On the street, there are handcraft shops and galleries. Amber Galleries are also places you must mark to see. 
Amber is a stone indigenous to this region and various jewelries are made of it. Along the Auros Vartu  Street are located the St. Casimir Church, Holy Trinity Church, St. Theresa Church, Basilian Gate and the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. As for food, some of the country's most important dishes that you must taste are Skilandis, a smoked meat dish; Salti Barscai, cold soup; and Vedarai, a sausage dish. The Vilnius International Film Festival, taking place in the spring, and the Vilnius Salsa Festival are activities attracting many people's attention.

As one of the fast developing airports of Europe, Vilnius Airport is just 5 kilometers away from the city center, and there a few options you can choose from to get there, and you should reach the center easily either by road or using the railway system.

Train

It’s also quite easy to catch a train to the city center from Vilnius Airport, and also both fast and economic. There’s a short walk from the airport terminal to the train station. The train service runs late into the night, and it can take you to almost wherever you want in the city.
