About Žabljak Airport

Zabljak Airport is an airport located in the Zabljak Municipality in Montenegro. The airport is located 17 km west of the city center and is often preferred by passengers who are traveling for tourism purposes. Zabljak Airport was built in 1955, as a military base. The first international flight was in 1993 and then regular international flights started. Every year more than 50 thousand passengers use the airport, that has flights operating to certain countries.

Getting to the City Center from Žabljak Airport

Žabljak, which is a small town in northern Montenegro, has its own airport but Žabljak Airport doesn’t offer passenger transportation service. For this reason, Podgorica International Airport, which is located 134 kilometers away, is used for travelling to the town. It is also possible to reach Žabljak from the airport by getting on a bus or renting a car.

Car Rental     

There are different car rental companies offering service at the airport. If you have an international driver’s license, you can easily rent your car by using your credit card. You can reach Žabljak by driving in the northwest direction on the highway E762 with the car you will rent at the airport. The travel lasts about 2-2.5 hours.

Bus

Podgorica International Airport is very close to Podgorica city center. You can reach the bus station in the center by using the bus route L-20 or getting on a taxi and get on Žabljak buses from here. The travel lasts about 3 hours but it is a budget-friendly travel.

Getting to Žabljak Airport from the City Center

Žabljak is a small town located in the northern Montenegro and Žabljak Airport in the town doesn’t offer passenger transportation service today. Podgorica International Airport, which is located 134 km of Žabljak, is the most preferred airport of the visitors. You can travel to Podgorica International Airport from Žabljak by renting a car or getting on a bus.

Car Rental   

You can easily reach Podgorica International Airport from Žabljak by driving in the southeast direction on the highway E762. Travelling to the airport from the center by car lasts about 2-2.5 hours depending on the traffic conditions.

Bus

There are regular bus services from the bus station in Žabljak to Podgorica city center. It is possible to reach Podgorica city center for a budget-friendly cost in about three hours. From here, you can get on a taxi for travelling to Podgorica International Airport. Transportation by taxi lasts only 10-15 minutes. If you have enough time and want to keep the cost low, the bus route L-20 departing from the Podgorica bus station also go to Podgorica International Airport.

Airport Information

Žabljak Airport has only one unpaved landing field and it doesn’t have an air traffic control tower. It is a small airport. The airport, which is today closed, is not used for passenger transportation.

Podgorica International Airport, which is the closest airport to the town, is the most preferred airport by the residents and visitors. Podgorica International Airport is also known as Golubovci Airport. At the airport, which has a modern glass and aluminum architecture, there are certain services such as café, bank, duty-free shop and VIP lounge.
