Kardjali, in Southeastern Bulgaria, is located on the ridge of the East Rhodope Mountains, on the banks of the Arda River. Kardjali is located 259 kilometers from Sofia, 90 kilometers from Plovdiv, 50 kilometers from Hasköy and 15 kilometers from the ancient city of Perperikon.
