Gainesville, located in the state of Florida in the United States, is commonly referred to as the G-Ville among the people.

Transportation within the city is mostly provided by buses, but bicycles are also widely used as means of transportation and there are bicycle routes among almost the entire city. The city also has an airport with regular flights to Charlotte, Atlanta and Miami.

Gainesville is under the influence of humid subtropical climate. Temperature fluctuations are higher in Gainesville compared to the general Florida climate. From May to the end of September the temperature varies from 21 to 33 degrees Celsius and has a high humidity. In winter the temperature drops to an average of 6 to 10 degrees Celsius and sometimes frosts can be observed.

Gainesville is home to Florida University, one of the biggest universities in the country with a large campus. It is an extremely active city, where the young population is intense. Gainesville was named by National Geographic as "one of the best places to live and have fun in the United States". However, it is important to remember that the city becomes quite stagnant during university’s holiday periods.

Music is an important fact for the city. Continuous concerts and music festivals are held in Gainesville, the starting point of many known singers and musicians' careers.

The prices are more reasonable compared to other cities in the state. The nightlife is very active especially during the education period of the University of Florida and the venues are open until 2 am.

Gainesville has many parks and natural habitats such as Butterfly Rainforest, Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, and offers really beautiful scenery. These green areas are preferred by people, when the temperature and the humidity are very high. Although the city is not very rich with regards to museums, Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art and the Florida Museum of Natural History are the kinds that will not disappoint the museum lovers. The University of Florida Campus is an important destination that attracts the attention of all the visitors of the city.
