Djerba is an island located in the Gulf of Gabes in Tunisia and is one of the most important tourism centers in the country with a population of approximately 170 thousand people. Djerba, also known for the Djerba Sea Battle, is the largest island of North Africa. The island is mostly visited and considered as a holiday destination by European tourists. The El Gariba Synagogue in the island is also known as the oldest synagogue built in the world.
